Every Color Matters Cancer
Foundation Scholarship Application

The Every Color Matters (ECM) Cancer Awareness Foundation Scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to high school seniors or graduates whose parents or guardians are currently battling cancer

OUR COMMITMENT

Each year, a minimum of one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying high school senior or graduate to help cover the cost of attending a two-year or four-year college, trade school, or technical school of their choice

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. A completed and signed application form, submitted by 04/30/2025.

  2. A brief description of the applicant’s intended field of study and career aspirations.

  3. A personal 500-word essay addressing the following prompts:

    • How has cancer impacted you and your family?

    • What are the key attributes of a successful professional in your chosen field (e.g., teacher, electrician, scientist, lawyer, engineer, etc.)?

    • Why do you believe you are suited for this field?

    • How will your chosen career contribute to making the world a better place?

  4. Three letters of recommendation that highlight the applicant’s character (Mentor), achievements (Teacher/Guidance Counselor), and dedication to their education and community (Civic Leader or Educator).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. Parental Status: The applicant's parent or guardian must currently be undergoing treatment for cancer. This requirement aligns with the foundation’s mission to support families affected by cancer.

  2. Educational Background: Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who have attended a public, private, or charter high school within the past three years.

  3. Previous Education: If an applicant has previously attended college, a trade, or a technical school but had to withdraw to care for a parent or guardian battling cancer, they may still qualify for the scholarship.

  4. Commitment to Education: Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to completing their education and show evidence of involvement in community service or activities that reflect dedication to helping others.

  5. Acceptance to an Educational Institution: Applicants must be accepted into a college, technical, or trade school and complete the required application process.

  6. Responsible Use of Funds: Scholarship recipients are expected to use the awarded funds responsibly and maintain a high standard of conduct throughout their education.
